Volvo CE Unveils Its New Generation of Wheel Loaders
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) takes a major step forward in innovation with the launch of its latest generation of wheel loaders. Five models, ranging from the L150 to the L260, promise to combine performance, comfort, and safety for operators while maximizing productivity on construction sites. Sales are planned for select international markets in 2025.
For 70 years, Volvo CE has been at the forefront of wheel loader technology. These new machines, designed for a wide range of applications—including material handling, processing, quarrying, waste management, recycling, and earthmoving—deliver shorter cycle times and improved energy efficiency.
The L150, L180, L200 High Lift, L220, and L260 feature a modernized design and enhanced durability, incorporating major technical innovations. Productivity and energy efficiency are optimized thanks to next-generation load-sensing hydraulics, automatic bucket leveling, intelligent auto-fill, and optimized controls. Operator comfort has also been reimagined with an ergonomic cabin equipped with the Volvo Co-Pilot system, setting new standards for functionality and workplace well-being. Maintenance is simplified with a tilting cab, brake wear indicators directly on the wheels, a new service platform, and harness anchor points accessible from the outside. Safety is further enhanced with features such as Volvo Smart View, collision mitigation, redesigned ramps and steps, automatic-opening doors, and optimized lighting, providing maximum protection both inside and outside the machine.
Alexis Delatolas, Global Wheel Loader Manager at Volvo CE, summarizes: “Our new-generation wheel loaders represent a major leap forward in technology and design. We are setting new benchmarks in innovation, productivity, and operator comfort for our customers, whatever their stage of transformation.”
These new machines do more than perform on site—they are fully integrated into Volvo CE’s digital ecosystem. Solutions such as Load Assist with onboard weighing, operator coaching, and tire pressure monitoring allow customers to optimize machine usage. The Load Ticket solution digitizes billing, while Site Operations facilitates mixed-fleet management on sites. The CareTrack telematics system ensures continuous monitoring, reducing repair costs and maximizing machine availability.
The gradual rollout of this new generation of wheel loaders will begin in selected markets in 2025, marking a major milestone in Volvo CE’s comprehensive solutions offering for the construction sector.
