Wienerberger, Liebherr and Nagel: a Partnership Built on Trust

Wienerberger GmbH has relied on Liebherr equipment and the services of local partner Nagel for more than four decades. The collaboration began in 1984 with the purchase of an R 932 crawler excavator and an L 541 wheel loader. For Roland Kanefzky, who manages the company’s three loam and clay pits, this marked the start of a reliable working relationship that continues to shape daily operations.

At the Wertingen extraction site, Liebherr earthmoving machines form the backbone of seasonal quarrying activity. From March to November, when conditions allow, the team works at full capacity to extract and stockpile loam and clay. The combination of demanding terrain and tight production windows requires machines that deliver consistent performance with minimal downtime.

Today’s fleet includes an R 966 Litronic crawler excavator, L 586 XPower and L 550 XPower wheel loaders, and a PR 746 Litronic crawler dozer. These machines support extraction, loading and site preparation while keeping fuel consumption and maintenance needs under control.

Wienerberger GmbH, rooted in the region since 1884, has evolved into a key European manufacturer of clay bricks and roofing solutions. After its integration into Terreal in 2021 and the subsequent acquisition by the Wienerberger Group in 2024, the business continues to combine long-standing craftsmanship with modern production and sustainable development.
