Hyundai marks 30 years of growth in Europe
Hyundai Construction Equipment is marking three decades of commercial development across Europe. With an expanding machine portfolio, a dedicated dealer network, and a strong focus on innovation and technical excellence, Hyundai continues to shape the equipment of tomorrow.
From its centrally located European headquarters in Tessenderlo-Ham, Belgium, Hyundai is moving toward becoming one of the top five construction equipment manufacturers. This year, the company introduced a bulldozer, a material handler, a compact loader, and compact track loaders, strengthening its established ranges of wheel loaders, mini excavators, crawler excavators, and wheeled excavators.
Hyundai also unveiled a new generation of crawler machines, advancing technology, productivity, performance, and operator control across its excavator lineup.
The company opened its energy-neutral headquarters near Brussels in 2017. The site includes a modern training academy, a large parts warehouse, a machine demonstration zone, and facilities designed to offer customers and dealers a premium experience.
“Over the past 30 years, Hyundai has become a recognised player in the European construction equipment sector,” said Maurizio Chiarotti, Sales Director Europe at Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe.
“Our ambition is to be among the five leading market players, and we are making steady progress. With a broader equipment range, a strong dealer network, dedicated national account support, and a loyal customer community, we are building a solid foundation for success. Supported by our expanding lineup, innovative and eco-friendly solutions, and a firm commitment to delivering reliable aftermarket support, we are ready to continue our growth across Europe,” Chiarotti added.
Hyundai entered the European construction market in 1995, establishing an assembly line in Geel, Belgium. Production later returned to South Korea in 2001 to improve efficiency and profitability. Hyundai’s European Customization and Logistics Centre (EUCUP) relocated to Zwijndrecht in 2009 and moved again in 2019 to new facilities in Vrasene, near the port of Antwerp.
In addition to its construction equipment business, Hyundai Material Handling also operates from the Tessenderlo site. This division offers a wide range of diesel, gas, and electric industrial forklifts for the European market, with lifting capacities from 1.5 to 30 tonnes. In 2025, the division launched a new series of machines, further strengthening its position in the sector.
